Connection with Nature
We learn, heal and grow through the bush. Our programs use the calm and rhythm of nature to help each person reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
We learn, heal and grow through the bush. Our programs use the calm and rhythm of nature to help each person reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
Built by and for neurodivergent people. We honour sensory, communication and learning differences, focusing on strengths, autonomy and genuine understanding.
Low-pressure, inclusive spaces where people feel safe, seen and valued — encouraging real friendships, teamwork and trust.
Art, movement, music, woodwork and cooking build skills, confidence and purpose — helping each person discover their own superpowers.
Our programs are designed to meet you where you are; relaxed, curious, and supported by people who understand how neurodivergent brains learn best. Each week at Thrive ND, you’ll find a mix of outdoor, creative, and practical sessions that build confidence and regulation through real experiences.
On any given day you might be bushwalking through the forest learning to identify local flora, working with timber in the makerspace, training Muay Thai for strength and sensory regulation, or fossicking for rocks and minerals on the ridge. Indoors, small group cooking and jewellery making sessions focus on everyday skills, fine motor control, and creative expression. Low-sensory social days and our LGBTQIA+ peer group offer calm, accepting spaces to connect, recharge, and be yourself — no expectations, no pressure.
We look beneath behaviour to understand what the body and brain are really trying to say. Every assessment and support plan starts with curiosity; exploring interoception, sensory needs, communication styles, trauma history, and day-to-day regulation. We take the time to observe patterns, triggers, and strengths, so strategies are built around what actually works for each individual, not what’s written in a manual.
Our supports are practical and relational: behaviour support that respects autonomy, recovery coaching that rebuilds trust and purpose, and mentoring that helps people make sense of their own systems and signals. We also offer family coaching and care team training so everyone around the person understands how to create safety, predictability, and calm. That's about designing support that fits the person, not forcing the person to fit the support.
We see Skill Building as confidence, not compliance. We focus on the everyday abilities that make life easier and more independent, from communication and budgeting to digital safety, planning, and self-advocacy. Each session is structured but flexible, using visual supports, clear routines, and gentle pacing to match each participant’s learning style.
Our team helps people build practical skills in ways that make sense for neurodivergent minds: practising travel planning on real community outings, role-playing communication scripts, setting achievable money goals, and exploring safe online habits. Progress happens naturally when the environment feels safe, predictable and respectful, and that’s exactly what we create.
Our Byron Bay branch brings Thrive ND’s neurodivergent-led, trauma-informed approach to the Northern Rivers. This service focuses on mental health, grief and loss and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) support, providing one-to-one mentoring, recovery coaching, and counselling in a calm, stigma-free environment.
We understand that healing isn’t linear, and that recovery looks different for every person. Our practitioners combine lived experience with harm-minimisation principles, working with people at any stage of readiness for change. Whether someone needs help stabilising routines, managing cravings, rebuilding trust, or reconnecting with purpose, our team meets them where they are, with compassion, honesty and zero judgement.
