A calmer way to get support
Thrive ND Byron Bay brings the same grounded, ND-led approach we've built in Bucketty into a coastal setting. It’s made for people navigating neurodivergence, trauma histories, substance use, and complex transitions who need support without judgement.
No fluorescent lights. No clinical scripts or pressure to “perform wellness”. Just a safe, sensory-aware space where you can breathe, unpack, and rebuild at your own pace, in person or via telehealth.
We prioritise safety, consent, predictability and nervous-system comfort. You set the pace. We walk alongside you.

Meet Matthew – Byron Bay lead practitioner
Matthew leads our Byron Bay service, bringing together extensive lived experience in alcohol and drug recovery with years of frontline work in mental health support for both adults and young people. He is particularly skilled in walking alongside people whose lives have been shaped by trauma, substance use, and long-term system involvement.
With a background supporting people with complex mental health challenges, psychosocial disability and behaviours of concern, Matthew provides recovery-oriented, trauma-informed support that is calm, steady and practical. His day to day work has included mental health observations, de-escalation in crisis, supporting people through detox and early recovery, and scaffolding independent living skills in the community.
People who work with Matthew describe feeling genuinely seen, not judged. He is skilled at maintaining trust and therapeutic rapport with those who have “burnt out” on services before, and collaborates closely with family, clinical teams and other providers to keep support joined-up and realistic. His approach is grounded in ethical practice, cultural safety, and a strong belief that every person deserves care that is affirming, honest and empowering.
